More Than Just A Music Teacher

Private music teachers are great for the accelerated education of a student interested in music. However, the teacher needs to pull his own weight and be a good mentor for the student. There needs to be a mutual love for the music, not just a person looking for some extra cash.

When you do hold a music lesson, you need to have a structured lesson plan that pushes the student to new levels without letting him or her get comfortable in any one area. Rather a constant building process is needed. Music teaching is not always easy though.

The art of music teaching comes with many difficulties and problems along the way. One of the most common problems that arise, especially from young children, is a lack of will. Some children are actually forced to get private lessons by their parents making the students difficult to teach to.

Another problem with some students is frustration. It is most likely that sometime in a students music career, they will become frustrated by a particular part in a song or a playing technique. The role of the teacher is important at this moment because this can often be the moment at which a student quits or decides to really pursue his music dream.

When handling the difficult moments of teaching young students, the teacher needs to be patient with them. Patience is a key to alleviating the stress. A music teacher also needs to give constant motivation for the student success. Without much motivation, there will be a lack of practice and skill performance from the student and this will not help your case for gaining future students.

In conclusion, music teaching is more than simply teaching a student how to play an instrument. It involves patience and teaches a student how to have motivation and desire to do the best you can. It can be related to coaching a sports team, which is more than just trying to win games. Coaching sports also teaches respect and team etiquette. So make sure that music isnt the only thing the student learns.

Students Have High Risk Of Sustaining Injuries In School

One morning earlier this month, two vehicles struck a 13-year-old Orange County boy as he walked to school. The pedestrian accident occurred at some time around 7:30 a.m. in the 18900 block of Spring Street near Santiago Middle School, the school in which the boy attended. A westbound Toyota 4Runner struck the boy first, the impact throwing him into opposite lanes of traffic. An eastbound Land Rover Discovery was the second vehicle to strike the boy.

“He suffered moderate injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital”, explains Jim Ballidis, a California injury attorney.

Unfortunately, accidents that occur around schools are all too common. Hurried drivers, bicyclists, skateboarders, and pedestrians can be a dangerous combination. Moreover, the activities students engage in while at school can be dangerous without proper instruction and supervision.

Between 10% and 25% of the more than 14 million unintentional injuries to children each year happen on school premises. That’s not too surprising since more than 53 million children in America spend almost a quarter of their waking hours on school property.

Recently a verdict here in Orange County Superior Court documented the clash between the Huntington Beach City School District and the Camm family. The suit claimed that Samuel Camm had cut off his thumb while using the school’s band saw in his woodshop class. Additionally, there were reports that the saw was “defective and dangerous.” The school settled privately and the undisclosed settlement will pay for the various surgeries and accrued medical bills.

Last November, 15-year-old North High School student Zachary Kimura and his parents, David and Wanda, filed a negligence claim against the Torrance Unified School District after he suffered first- and second-degree burns on his face, neck, arms, and hands during an accident in one of the classrooms.

On Friday, October 22, students and staff members were cooking Korean barbeque on three butane stoves when one of the stoves malfunctioned, igniting into a fireball 6 feet wide and 12 feet high, reported the Daily Breeze. Kimura, who had purchased a plate of food and was waiting in line, and several other students were injured by the blast. His claim alleges that the school district neglected to take precautions to protect the students, to provide proper supervision, and to obtain permits to use the stoves in the classroom.

Due to the relatively high risk students have of suffering injuries, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, CDC, has created a new school health brochure. School staff and students will find safety tips and guidelines for preventing unintentional injuries in the 2010 National Health Objectives.

A free, downloadable version of the brochure can be found at the CDC’s website

Bankruptcy on Student Loans

Most people get through with education with the help of loans especially when looking to get further education, say like at the university level. In the long run, it could prove to be difficult to pay up the student loan offered to you. When faced with such a situation, it is common for most people to seek bankruptcy claim as a way of shielding themselves from the possible outcomes.

However, it is important to know that student loans are not dischargeable even in the cases of bankruptcy. Student loans with government backing or nonprofit organizations backing have to be paid back in full whether you are in a position to do so or not. This therefore rules out a bankruptcy claim as a solution to your student loan problems.

The only way you can have your claim accepted is if you are in a position to prove extreme difficulty in paying up the loan which is hard to do. To do so, you might be required to prove that you are unable to keep up with the set payment schedule for your loan, that in future you have no hope of paying up the loan meaning that the current financial situation is definitely permanent. You also have to prove that you have done your best in trying to pay up but have failed.

Proving the above is what proves to be difficult for most people, therefore making it irrelevant to even try out a bankruptcy case on your student loan. It is virtually impossible to prove that your current financial position is permanent since even though you could be unemployed, it does not necessarily mean that you will not find great opportunities in the future. This makes it better for you to forget the possibility of having a bankruptcy claim work to your advantage since it is certain that it will not.

To get your student loan discharged, you can turn to other available solutions that could be of help in your situation. There are credit agencies that specialize in advising people faced with bankruptcy on the various options available for them to get off their financial woes. It is likely that you will find something that will work to your advantage in the counseling session bringing you relief.

Bankruptcy claim is a relatively simple process which can be done professionally with the help of experts in the field.Cost of bankruptcy law may vary from one state to another. For more information about personal bankruptcy lawyer visit .

Why Some Students With Low Grades Make it To Prime Universities

It’s puzzling how some students make it to prime universities, while your application on the other hand, gets rejected. You wonder even more, especially when you know (modesty aside) that academically speaking, you are better than that person. That can only be attributed to one explanation: Universities are not all after the intellectually-gifted applicants.

Figures don’t impress that much. You got a perfect score on your SAT and ACT. You also graduated with honors. Still, those accomplishments are not enough for your application to be approved by panelists. There are still other components that matter aside from the figures that prove you are indeed smart. Admission essays, recommendation letters and extracurricular involvement also count. Universities, nowadays, do not only want students that can answer complex mathematical problems manually. They want those who recognize their passions and are working hard to pursue them. They want those that care not only about themselves, but also the community they are in.

Panelists don’t rank applicants. With the thousand applications they have to review, admission officials no longer have the time to group students according to GPAs and SAT scores. And even if they have ample time, still, they would not do so. They look into your grades for a minute or so, sometimes even only for a few seconds, to see whether you can keep up with the classes, and that you would not fail. And that’s it. After officials have seen your grades, then again you are on the same playing field as the rest of other applicants. In short, the admission process is not about the university arranging applicants according to grades, picking the top ten percent and then discarding those at the bottom of the list.

Character appeals more. Universities desire to admit students that would make their community more diverse. They want aspiring leaders, innovators, national athletes and motivational speakers. Do not just invest on your grades. Join organizations whose purpose you support. And do not move from one to another every year. This is not about the quantity. Show rather the developments you have made from being a member of the group, to being voted as among the officials. Also, join outreach activities during summer so you can beef up your application.

Do not feel jealous, If that is your friend who got accepted, then you should be happy more than anything else. Instead of fostering grudge, it is best that you work on your other applications, and work on compensating for what you may be lacking. This is for your benefit especially if you are waitlisted and are looking forward to be given another chance by a university of your choice.

Good Study Skills Are Crucial For College Students

College has so much going on: away from home, no parents, new living arrangements. What makes this so much more complicated is not having good study habits. Poor study habits just makes college life that much more challenging. Going to college opens up a whole slew of new experiences. You got new friends, new town and new challenges. One of these new challenges is knowing how to study properly. This might be the biggest challenge of all.

It’s a common experience for college students to realize that being able to study well really helps make university life successful and enjoyable. It’s also common that being a good studier is perceived as a natural talent or a ninja-like skill.

Neither natural talent nor ninja training explains it. It really comes down to habits.

Freshmen show up at university with what they already have. They bring their grades, experiences and study methods. Because of their abilities, many students developed ways to study that worked fine in high school but are not sufficient for the rigors of university classes.

As these freshman get into the college experience, they realize university classes are at a different level than what high school was. In addition, they find that the study habits they brought from their high school classes won’t work anymore and that improvement is vital in order to perform well academically in college.

A complicating factor to developing better study habits is that there is little breathing room for college students to reboot how they study. The pace and volume of classroom work and preparation is such that changing to better ways of studying is very difficult to squeeze in.

Perhaps putting this situation another will help clarify what I mean. A high school student competitively in high school and does very well in her meets because her of natural ability compared to her opponents.

This superior runner practices, yes, but no more than the girls who finish behind her. Her first place finishes are due to what she was given not from what she does to prepare.

The top notch runner now goes to college to compete and sees that things are different. Now the competition has her talent, too, and her standings begin to fall off from what she is used to knowing.

Our high school runner understands her training needs to improve. She just doesn’t know when she’ll be able to do the improving. She competes weekly which restricts her available time. So she needs to continue her high school level training to keep her results from getting any worse.

A better choice for her would be to get some help to make the change sooner rather than later.

It is a similar situation with getting good study habits. Some outside help can really help. Getting assistance with college level study skills is very similar to our track scenario. It can happen sooner rather than later.

Black Belt Martial Arts Students Learn Capoeira, Brazilian Dance Fighting, from Visiting Instructor

Black Belt students at Personal Mastery Martial Arts in Sandy, Utah had a very unique experience this weekend when Master Will Mallmann visited their martial arts school and introduced them to Capoeira, a martial art that is often referred to as -Brazilian Dance Fighting.- Although students at Personal Mastery Martial Arts have a lot of experience in Taekwondo, Hapkido, and other martial arts forms, for most of the students this was their first time learning about or seeing Capoeira demonstrated.

Master Will Mallmann taught a seminar for the black belt students where he not only demonstrated Capoeira, but also taught some of the basic movements and tricks. Participants in the seminar learned many things from the basic movement of the ginga, one of the most fundamental movements of Capoeira, to handstands and headstand cartwheels.

Capoeira is a martial arts form that combines dancing, acrobatics, and martial arts techniques. Unlike many other martial arts, in Capoeira music is an essential element. When Capoeira is performed it is always performed to music and those watching help to keep the tempo by clapping in time with the music. The Capoeira performer matches their performance to the tempo of the music.

For many of the participants at the Capoeira seminar, the performance at the end was their favorite part. All of the students stood in a circle and took turns going in and demonstrating their new-found Capoeira skills in time with the music. Everyone clapped and helped the performer stay with the tempo of the music, often calling out encouragement. The game quickly turned competitive.

One participant, Kim McGowan-Jackson said, -The Capoeira seminar was so fun tonight! Thank you to Master Will Mallmann who has beyond awesome skills. Everyone did such a fantastic job. I think this is the beginning of a super fun Martial Arts weekend. I got to be a Brazilian fighter tonight!-

Personal Mastery Martial Arts often invites visiting instructors to the school to teach their students about different kinds of martial arts and self defense systems. So while Master Will Mallmann was the not the first visiting instructor to visit the school, the students loved having him visit and teach them new things, and they look forward to his next visit.

Why Digitalized Education Is Important

Man is the most powerful animal on this earth today he is so powerful that he can destroy this planet 10 times over. And he is the weakest being in the natures creation as well in terms of survival. Yet he dominates this planet with one tool intelligence.

This tool has been carried from individual to individual from generation to generation in the form of education. The meaning of this word has gone through and is going through numerous mutations according to the need of mankind.

Right from the Stone Age when learning to find better food, make better tools and kill better was education through the Industrialization Era when learning to make new machines, device new inventions and finding new and profitable markets to this Neo Liberalism Era when learning to communicate better and lead better, the one goal of education has been to move towards better comfort zones of living.

This digital era has opened up a whole new dimension of possibilities with no bounds to our learning ability. Till the 19th century the memory or the ability to gain access to information determined the intelligence. Now we have access to information as never before and memory has taken a back bench position to creativity. In implication if you have the right creativity then your achievements can become infinite. This has been made possible through computers, the pinnacle of technology.

With the vast storage and momentary retrieval abilities, computers have flattened the platform of access to information, removing the differences in the memory capacity of individuals. The invention of digital computing and recording tools had raised the human intelligence to the next level. With the assistance of artificial intelligence the views on education changed drastically.

Right from the question whether students can use digital calculators in exams to the reliability of online tests, there is only one real concern in the background Is the artificial intelligence dominating the human creativity? The classical education focused more on memory than creativity while as mentioned earlier the digitized education is focused on creativity, so technically this renders the above concern meaningless. The reforms in digital education have a single aim of enhancing human ability immaterial of personal shortcomings.

The success of a teacher in assisting a student rests in kindling his or her learning interest thereby increasing their knowledge. Digitized education tools are visual based so this increases the knowledge curiosity and widens the scope of knowledge. Our futuristic views on education are well defined.

The need to enhance our lives and increase our well being is now totally dependent on the education methods that we use. The world is being digitized in all fonts. This implies that education will be digitized as well. This new wave of change will take us one step ahead.
